When it comes to supporting local, The Amberley Hotel has got it sussed. After a complete refurbishment, the hotel re-opened in late 2021 to reveal stunning new accommodation, family dining, a bar, outdoor beer garden, and gaming areas all aimed at encouraging locals to stop in as well as travellers enroute to the Waipara wine region and Hanmer Springs.
As well as the hotel’s superb new menus, incorporating an abundance of North Canterbury produce, they offer an extensive North Canterbury wine selection and – perhaps the local icing on the cake – an on-site grocer dubbed The Crown & Pantry Wine Store that is virtually overflowing with delicious North Canterbury food and beverages. The Pantry is a veritable who’s-who of North Canterbury producers, offering customers a truly local grocery experience. The shelves are lined with everything from fresh, locally made bread, cereal and honey to olive oils, pickles, nuts, cheeses and salami. The chiller is brim-full with North Canterbury wines, while the spirits section includes gin made in both Kaikoura and Rangiora.
The Amberley Hotel and The Crown & Pantry Wine Store are both open 7 days, from 11 am Monday to Friday and 10am Saturday and Sunday.
