The busy little bakery on Rangiora’s Percival Street, opposite Victoria Park, has been a local fixture for decades. And while owners may have changed over the years, the focus on fresh, quality baked goods has always remained the same.
Now known as Percival Street Bakery (or PSB), the bustling business is renowned for its amazing sourdough products, fresh loaves, sandwiches, pies, cakes, slices and one of the best sausage rolls in the country. The inaugural Bakel’s Legendary Sausage Roll competition in 2020 saw Percival Street Bakery’s entry come in at 7th place – not bad for a nationwide contest that attracted over 600 entries!
The delicious products are all made fresh on site daily under the watchful eye of award-winning baker Wayne Rewi. Wayne has been baking for nearly 30 years. In addition to his well-honed skills, his secret weapon is a nine-year-old sourdough starter that goes into all his sourdough products and even some of the other delicious items for sale on the bakery’s shelves.
So whether you’re after a morning (fair trade) coffee, a sweet treat, hearty lunch or even a freshly made family pie or pizza to take home for dinner, pop in to Percival Street Bakery where you’re guaranteed fresh, delicious baked goods made right here in North Canterbury.
